A while ago, I was telling Adele about a TED Talk that I had seen and she said she had never heard of a TED talk. This kind of shocked me but I understand that not everyone has heard of TED so I thought I would write a short blog post for her.
What is TED From the Wikipedia Entry :
TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is a US private nonprofit foundation best known for its conferences, now held in Europe and Asia as well as the U.S., devoted to what it calls "ideas worth spreading". Its lectures or TED Talks, widely disseminated on the internet, are not subject to a time limit.
TED was founded in 1984; the first conference happened in 1990.

You can find talks and more info and talks at the TED website. I personally just check them out on YouTube. Alot of famous people give talks but I tend to find the real amazing ones are unknown people to me. Here are a few that I found interesting :

ACDC

The Concert i`ve been waiting years for. ACDC February 18, ANZ Stadium. Tickets went on sale at 9am on the 25th of May 2009. After refreshing the webpage for an hour I finally got 2 tickets at $150 a piece :
in General Admission, Arena C :
We rocked into Sydney from Ballina at around 2:30. By the time we picked up our car and got to the Marriot Courtyard Hotel in Parramatta, (this hotel should be in Adele and I`s credits : Adele and Daniel choose to stay at the Marriott Courtyard Parramatta, LOL) it was about 5 o'clock thanks to having to navigate Parramatta Road in peak hour.

Adele had worked out from the net that ACDC weren't onstage till 8:55pm so we headed over the road to P.J Gallaghers Irish Pub across the road, where we enjoyed a relaxing pizza (Adele discovered that fresh tomato is included on a traditional Margarita pizza). Then we headed back to our room, picked up our trusty little point and shoot camera and headed to the train station, we caught the train to Lidcombe station(I have caught a number of trains here thanks to my grandparents living in Livinstone Road Lidcombe), then switched over for the train to Homebush.

Once we hit Homebush it`s the busiest I have ever seen this place. People everywhere, probably not well demonstrated by this shot but :
So we lined up to get to the Merchandising tent :
An hour later after much discussion about if they would have EFTPOS facilities(they did) we finally got away $80 poorer but richer by one ACDC T-Shirt and an official Program :
I have since ordered the ACDC Tie which I didn`t see but it should be delivered shortly.

Next we searched for an ATM and finally found one, then we found some flashing devil horns for Adele, which everyone was wearing :
The guy selling these things at$20 a pop must have been making a fortune cause they were Everywhere.

We then entered the stadium and watched the end of Wolfmothers set. Overall, Wolfmother didn`t have the sound mixed correctly so came out a bit distorted. But they ended around 8:20pm so we then waited for half an hour for the main show.
Boy did they not disappoint
They came out with Runaway Train from their current album, the middle screen split and a Huge train came through the middle :

Concert finished at around 11pm with a fireworks show. We were back in our hotel room by 11:30 which we thought was extremely impressive.

Unfortunately not too many good shots with the camera, should have read the manual for it before we left for the concert. But we had an AWESOME time. Well I did anyway, even after standing for 3 and half hours :). Adele had her horns knocked off by an exuberant concert goer who was apologising profusely and then proceeded to nearly sh*t himself when I turned around and asked what was going on. I have video but I don`t think I should upload them for legal reasons anyway.

So that was our ACDC outing :

Greyhounds

Adele and I decided to go for an adventure last night. We decided to go to the Greyhounds.

The track is just off Hindmarsh drive opposite the Best Western Sundown Motel. $5.50 each Entry fee to get us both in and we settled down to have a bit of a gamble.

We had a great time, we arrived just as Race 1 started. And we got to see a dog cartwheel along, it then picked itself up off the ground and continued.

Race 2, We picked Happy Glow who managed to come in third. Yay we thought, Money back. Until we found out they only pay place for 2nd :(.

Race 3, Adele`s pick Milly Moo managed to shoot out of the barriers in first:
The Greyhound then ran along in the lead till about 3/4 of the way through the race, when it decided to turn around and go back the other way. We were laughing about it and then Adele realised that the owners were sitting behind us.

Race 4 :

- We picked Demon Fighter, but we came in third again. No money back :(

Race 5 :
The Anytime Fitness Stakes(Huge Cash Prize to the winner of $770) over 440m, we picked Chocolate Cobber initially but was told it was scratched late. So we picked Apidra. Again, Third :(.

We decided to save our money and head to the Tigers club where we drowned our sorrows in food and diet soft drinks. Still a good night out had by both of us :)

Cricket

Whilst on holiday I made it to the Gabba to see a One Day Internationl Cricket match between Australia and the West Indies. Ticket supplied by my sister Clare(Good seats, I feel I need box seats for the next game to top these) as a Christmas present, one of the best christmas presents i`ve ever had, Cheers.

I only had my phone to take photo`s on so the quality is not great, we have since bought a little point and shoot for occasions such as this, but I feel next time i`ll chance taking the DSLR. So now some photo`s :
Al in his umbrella hat, he was asked to remove it after a couple of hours, I was going to offer to forcibly remove him from the stadium but he complied with directions.

We got to our seats, just near the side screen at the Stanley St end, I`ve circled in red where we sat(or thereabouts).

The West Indies won the toss and elected to field.

We saw the Gatorade cart come onto the field for drinks.

Halfway through the West Indies innings we saw a sky writer. There were initials but we couldn`t read them.

So Australia ended up on 7/324 after 50 overs and then took to the field, was great to see Ricky Ponting getting a century.

After Gayle got out for 34 off 21 balls it was pretty much a boring game after that. But we did see a few players right in front of us :

Ryan Harris (2/64 off 10 Overs).

Mitchell Johnson (1/54 off 10) came to sign some autographs for the kids.

Adam Voges 16 runs off 10 balls (Great shot I know).

Finally Mike Hussey (42 off 21 balls), dissapointment for the kids as apparently he doesn`t sign autographs whilst fielding. But he did take a great catch right in front of us.

Found some video highlights of the game which should work:

West Indies lost the game, ending up on 8/274, we ended up leaving at the 49th over to beat the traffic. So, big thanks to my sister Clare who provided me a great Christmas present. To my brother Kim for driving us up there in the nice new car. To my Father Al (whose birthday it was on the day), and brothers in law Michael and Shane a big thanks as well for attending with me and enjoying the day. Thats it I think. Bye.

Lake George

On our way home from holiday, I sent tweet from the lookout at Lake George saying there was water in it. I received some replies saying that wasn`t much, now that was the best I could do with a camera phone at the time, but here is a couple of shots taken from our DSLR :

Note the wind turbines in the background, they are now fully operational.
1st pic taken with the standard 18-55mm lens, the 2nd with the bigger 55-200mm lens.

So thats a little bit better, I imagine the water has probably dried up by now, but thats the most water I`ve seen in Lake George for a long time. Bye.

Apple`s iPad

I`ve been waiting to see hard info on this product, this since the rumours started flying thick and fast, i`ve never been an Apple fan due to the limitations on them set by Apple, but i`m looking around, and Apple have done really good things as far as mass marketing gadgets, so here`s what I think of the iPad :

Pros :

eBook Store (ePub format) - Very interested to see how this pushes the eBook format, also no info on the DRM etc on it.
Battery Life, 10 Hours is stunning, I would say due to the 1GHz Apple A4 CPU but interested to see more about this CPU.
Looks Good, even i`ll admit it looks good
9.7" Screen looks good, but 1024x768 res is a little disappointing but size of screen is limited.

Cons :

No GPS, Kinda limits the possibilities.
No HDMI or DVI Output - Big Disappointment.
Only 64Gb Max??
No Flash integration.
No camera, Yeah it has an option for an add-0n but come on.
No multitasking, maybe an OS update this year will do something about it?
Soft Keyboard, No really positive reviews on it yet.

Pricing :
Biggest disappointment is the price, as usual for Apple there is a big premium for slapping a fruit logo on the back :
WiFi Only : $499 for 16GB, $599 for 32Gb and $699 for 64GB
Adding 3G costs a $130 per model So :
WiFi/3G : $629 for 16Gb, $729 for 32Gb and $829 for 64Gb
- Bear in mind these are US dollars and will be a premium markup when it hits Australia presumably around June/July this year.

Overall :
I was seriously looking at this device as my first Apple product (bar an iPod I never actually used except as a portable HDD), but the Cons column quickly outweighed the pros, the price also makes it look unattractive. The one thing I am really excited about is the iBook stuff, I read...A Lot, I don`t listen to music much so iTunes never really excited me, but I do read, extensively and quickly and I like to own original legit copies of books, so i`m quite frankly excited to see what Apple can do for ebook readers. Hardware wise, i'd like to see some things fixed up, mainly the stuff in the Cons column. Overall i`ll wait to see what other tablet options come out maybe the next version of the iPad may convince me, or it may be the Asus Eee Pad or the HP, Who knows? But I do know I like the look of tablet PC`s.

EDIT : Forgot, The Name : iPad, sounds like a female sanitary product, Really.

Well, i`m on my days off again, just about to go pick Paul up, thought i`d hit the blog first.
Hasn`t been too interesting here, Car still p*ssing me off, still looking at leasing but trying to hold off till next year. Went and saw My Sisters Keeper at the movies, wasn`t that impressed, but Adele enjoyed it so it was worth it.

Damn Car

Well the Commodore is slowly dying, apart from the Drivers seat which is bent, the Driver`s side door lock actuators are screwed, resulting in the doors not being able to be opened, so imagine if you will, me hauling my butt across the centre console to the passenger side to get out, if these are replaced then we need to replace the Body Control Module, all up looking at $1-$2,000 to fix it, so we`re thinking its time to investigate Car Leasing.

So today whilst Tuggeranong Auto Electric looked at the locks on the car, I went and saw GI Joe :

Umm, I should have waited for Inglorius Basterds to start. It was Ok, just not great, you really need to turn your brain off to watch this, but its ok as a brainless blowing crap up movie, As for Inglorius Basterds, tomorrow is Tight Ass Tuesday, so we`ll see.

Bought 3 DVD`s today, Clerks & Chasing Amy 2-Pack from Revolution CD for $11.95 thereby completing my ViewAskew universe DVD Collection and I also got Jersey Girl from K-Mart for $7, I still need to get Zack and Miri Make a Porno to complete my Kevin Smith Collection though.

Meanwhile, i`m on the downhill run to 150,000 Experience points in Farmtown, DAMN Facebook games.

Bored, Been to the doctor this morning to get a script filled. Put some washing on the line. Watched some TV. Bored now. Might head down to the post office and send some stuff for Adele.

Ok, for those that follow me on Twitter you would have been right if you had guessed : Adele and I went to The Australian War Memorial. Adele and I adventured out for a bit of touristy fun today, it was free and we felt rather patriotic after doing it. We had been wanting to go for a while but since she took today off on flex we decided to go today to avoid the Saturday crowd.....BIG MISTAKE. Bloody School Kids.

So that was todays adventure, we actually feel we may go back and start on the bottom level as we spent most of our time on World War 1 & 2, so we feel next time we`ll start at the Korean war.

Adele didn`t think Smellie should eat chocolate cake mix but I beg to differ she liked it lots.

I have been relying on a stash of earplugs I had from working in the Data Centre but since I thought it was time to go legit, we went to the Safety Shop in Fyshwick and bought a tube of ear plugs, you have to be careful with your earplugs as Ellie has decided they are a delicious chewy treat that we keep next to the bed :
$28 for that lot, 100 pairs.

Apart from that its really been work, work and more work. I did have a small win over a Dell laptop this morning which made me feel better. Dell have some weird settings in their BIOS, the end result of which is that you can`t install an OS unless you change some stuff.

Alright I`m doing it

I`ve been asked to do this countless times so here it is :

What have I been up to, well for the last 4 days I`ve had a cold.
Today I went to the Motor Registry and registered the cars. Both of them. I did the easy bit, Adele arranged all the inspections etc required to get them registered, all this has made me go well why don`t we lease a car? gonna look into it next time they have the option at work.

Before that I was doing a week of Cisco ICND1 training which when I do my test and pass it I`ll have a qualification, so i`ll have a piece of paper that says I actually know what I`m talking about for once. Then it`s ICND2 training at some stage. Which means i`ll have my CCNA. Yay. Then at some stage we`re doing Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician(MCDST) so more qualifications. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) is also looming in the distance. So i`ll do it if work pays for it.

Now not much else been happening, it`s Cold. Mary, Al, Clare and Shane can all atest to this after coming for Clare`s admission to the courts as a Solicitor/Barrister, i`m probably getting this all wrong anyway.

Day`s Off, I love them

So next week I was doing a course which would have meant that I was starting work on Monday, but now I`ve been bumped from the course till later so I get Monday and Tuesday off as well. SWEEEEET, I will hold them to sending me to the course though. Still I have Mary & Al here for 3 nights and possibly Clare for 1.

So today was taking Adele to have some routine tests done at the hospital(Don`t worry all just normal stuff). So whilst she went and did that, I went searching for Miami Ink on DVD, I saw it at JB Hifi for $60 for the first 6 collections which are normally $30 each but I was too slow and missed it, But then I found it at Dick Smith PowerHouse :
Sorry DSE you have no DVD`s on your Website, so JB gets the link this time(Click the pic for a link). Both Adele and I are huge Miami Ink fans, we used to sit in hotel rooms and watch Foxtel just so we could see it, whenever we went away, so I downloaded most of them but there were some that weren`t available and we decided that we would just buy the DVD`s. So that`s what we`ll be doing today, watching Miami Ink.

Busy Weekend

Busy this weekend. Shopping in Civic yesterday, bought my first comic in 10 years from Impact comics, Jim Butcher`s The Dresden Files : Welcome to the Jungle, It`s a Hardcover colation of a 4 part comic, The Dresden Files is a series of Novel(and a short lived TV show) about a wizard(Much better than Harry Potter), currently they are releasing 4 part comic versions of the novels, so i`ll be grabbing these every few months.

Today our internet rolled over so no more throttling and we are back to full speed. We went to Injoy at Gold Creek Village to have brunch with Adam and Natalie and our God-Daughter Haley, which we enjoyed as we are so busy lately we don`t see them nearly as much as we would like to. We finally got to give her, her christmas and birthday presents, which gives you an idea of how busy we are. We then came home and did grocery shopping for the fortnight and just got back from visiting Adele`s Great Aunt. We took smelly Ellie with us which Aunty Elaine seemed to enjoy. We then took smelly for a walk.

This fortnight my parents come down for the weekend as well as my sister Clare and her husband Shane(we assume he`s coming) Clare is being admitted at the Supreme Court so she can practice law(Time to go stir up some trouble and test her skills out).

So now that`s all out of the way, what have I found this week :

First Day Off

Well, I haven`t been motivated to do anything today(well besides sleep a bit). So I thought i`d do a quick blog, hasn`t been much happening to update you this week, we`re off to Sydney this weekend to visit Adele`s friend Gemma and her husband Sam & their daughter Natalie who you`ve all heard about on Adele`s Blog. So we`re staying in Parramatta, time to get the GPS out again cause I got no idea.

Ok, so i`ve done 3 posts in a week, no i`m not ill, just sitting here waiting for stuff to finish downloading. So whats entertained me :

Reminds me of Big

I`ve now watched Most of Miami Ink(Need the DVD`s thinking it`s worth buying them). I`ve watched all of LA Ink up to end of season 3, waiting for season 4 now and i`ve watched all of London Ink up to the end of Season 2, now waiting for season 3. When I was getting tattoo`d, Lugh the artist said that one of his Tattoo mates has told him he is filming Sydney Ink. So when I came home I jumped straight on the net and found the info, I`m definitely going to have to apply for this :). See Link for details.

Ok, now I did buy a Snuggie/Cosie/Cuddly/Slanket. But I draw the line at the wearable towel :

One gripe from this week, i`ve now seen a car driving round Queanbeyan twice with the License plate : Rolls, My gripe is not with the personalised number plate its the fact that it's Rolls on a Mercedes. Dammit you can`t afford a rolls get over it. Owner of the car if you`re reading this : CHANGE YOUR LICENSE PLATE.

I personally remember it, but only from episodes I managed to watch without my parent`s finding out. Well they`re remaking it :

Ok, I`ve been to watch a few movies in the last month, Fast and Furious (BORING & full of plot holes), Monster`s Vs Aliens (Decent movie, can`t wait for it on DVD in 3D) & Finally Star Trek, for those of you who don`t read my Tweets, Basically I loved this movie, JJ has done a massively excellent job, for those interested here is the trailer :

Now I also watched the new X-Men Origin`s : Wolverine movie. Whilst it was a good movie, it wasn`t anywhere near on the scale of Star Trek, I highly recommend Star Trek as a good Action Movie, not even as a Trekkie movie.

Getting Tattoo`d

Ok, so my tattoo was a long time coming, it took 2 months to get in to get it done. After speaking to alot of people who had tattoo`s I decided to go to Tattoo Power at North Lyneham

So finally its done, I have my tattoo, surprisingly with my fear of needles, this all went extremely well, It`s actually not that painful(I`m a wuss remember) after the first half hour it kind of went numb and the only parts I felt after that was the shading. All up the tattoo cost me a total of $350. Now it doesn`t seem to be the done thing in our family to get Tattoo`s but then i`m not really one of the "in" crowd in our family so I like it.
Now the big question would I do it again?
Yes, definitely, already planning my next one. I like tattoo`s, i`ve listened to all the people tell me that I shouldn`t get any and for once i`m going to do what I want to do and continue, at this stage the only hurdle is cost and recovery time. It`s not scabbing over as i`ve been told it would by people(well not the tattoo artist). It`s healing nicely not very sore at all. So that`s it really. Talk to you all later. Bye.

Again, It`s Been a long While

Still I`ve blogged more often than Kim, Woot.

So it`s mainly been work and sleep. Took Ellie to the Hairdresser today(Dog Hairdresser) and she has been clipped and bathed, I`m covered in Dog Hair currently, waiting for Adele to get home, then i`m sure she`ll either blog or tweet some shots. She looks very much like a Miniature Schnauzer right now, instead of a little scottish terrier or something.

So tomorrow morning brings the pain, I`m finally getting my Misty Tattoo :). So i`ll be a little sore tomorrow arvo I reckon. For those of you interested, this is the shot i`ll be getting Tattoo`d :

So tired, need a holiday, Someone Else needs to get married.....oh buggar. Umm more specific? In Australia, somewhere close by so I can afford to go. Batemans Bay anyone??? romantic as all hell I hear.

Anyway, been to the movies twice in 2 weeks, unfortunately by myself both times, I saw :
Fast and Furious last week, Verdict : I saw it so you don`t have to, save your money.
Monsters Vs Aliens this week, Verdict : Way Cool, wish Adele had watched it with me, also wish I had the car booked in at Belconnen so I could have watched it in 3D, still I`ll probably get it on DVD in 3D.

I`m totally planning to take Adele to see Wolverine at some stage this week, we`ll see when.

No Sign of the K-Rudd memorial funds yet, don`t particuraly know why i'm waiting, it`s going towards paying off the TV so no use really, I suppose after thats paid off we`ll be getting a new lounge and dining setting like Adele wants so thats nice I suppose.

Had to Bath Ellie today, Adele saw a flea on her last night so because it was cold last night we decided to bath her today, unfortunately this meant that I got to do it, Let me tell you, from the experience I had today, I`d rather bath a cat than a puppy, even Misty with his Action Death Grip and claws couldn't compete with the sounds and acting of one little miniature schnauzer puppy, you`d think I was trying to drown her, with all the commotion and carrying on I was unable to take a photo of Ellie's first bath, so maybe next time when Adele is around.

Tattoo

Well i`ve spoken with the Tattoo Artist at Tattoo Power in North Lyneham, I`ve shown him the picture of Misty :
And he reckons it will be no problem to do this as a tattoo, black and grey shadowing, with his green eye`s, Pupil`s will be back, planning on having Misty in script below it, with 1991-2006 underneath that.

Back is killing me again. On the cocktail again. Going downstairs to get the netbook connected to the network and transfer the photo`s, after looking at Ian`s video, I have decided not to include it on the DVD`s, I will also be trying to upload Alan`s Dancing off the video camera and onto YouTube, check back here for as soon as I can get it organised, back problems may prohibit video work for a while though.

We`ve spent a small fortune at Wheel and Barrow in Civic, and then at Freedom at DFO in Fyshwick, as told on my Twitter, i`m voting DFO Fyshwick the best DFO in Australia, it has a EB Games, JB Hifi, Clive Anthony`s, Dick Smith & Ray`s Outdoors, what else do you need, well a Donut shop would be welcome, but I can live without that.

HTC Dream Accessories

You may or may not have noticed that I seem to use my blog as a place to remember cool things i`ve seen or want, I mean I could use my favourites list, but I like this way as I add pictures and stuff, so it`s easier to remember, that and my iWoot favourites folder is so huge it`s hard to find stuff. So i`ve had my HTC Dream for a month now, i`ve found I want some accessories that I feel would make my life with it a bit better.

These would be :
A Larger Battery, going from 1150mAh as standard to 1400mAh which seems to be the largest without adding a larger battery cover :
A Mini-USB to 3.5mm adaptor so I can use normal head phones on it :
A heap of screen protectors, I`ve tended to not worry about this in the past and it has been to my detriment :
A Case, I think something like below would be good as it has the belt clip on it, but I do tend to keep it in my pocket :A Cradle, I would like 2 of these, 1 for work and 1 for home :
That`s about it for now, i`ll probably edit this post if I come across anything else I would like for the phone, but that`s my list for now, most of this stuff is on eBay pretty cheap, so i`ll be getting alot of it myself, espescially the screen protectors as I have one on now and it`s getting dirty and scratched.

Side note, Kirsty, Clone Wars have the last episode coming out on Saturday, so i`ll be sending your discs on Monday to accomodate.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Well it`s been a busy day, everyone should be following my twitter now if not :
So in the end, the Wedding band Tattoo has been called off due to common sense, basically the Tattoo shop was willing to do it, however they stress that the hand loses more skin cells than any other part of the body and it would need touching up very quickly, so onto my Misty Tattoo, i`m going to speak to Tattoo Power in North Lyneham tomorrow.
This is what i`m using as a base for it, I want to see what they can actually do before I get it though.

Busy day anyway, I have ordered a Parallel Port Cable for my new PC so we can again use the Brother laser printer and print stuff off the PC again. We picked up Azrael the little feral, he didn`t like the trip home. But is now prowling the neighborhood, we expect him home around 6am tomorrow morning realistically. He appears to have been spoilt by Granny Rob and Grandpa Pauly(Mwahahaha). He even got our postcard from North Stradbroke Island we sent.

After we picked the boy up, I then spent alot of the day setting up my Optus Online account so I can review my phone usage on the net, I also hooked up with the netbanking so I can pay my credit card off on-line, way cool.

We then fronted to Westpac to try and resolve Adele`s Credit Card issue and get a Credit Card issued in her married name(See Clare this stuff takes forever), they now reckon it`ll be here shortly(we`ll believe it when its in our hands). Then some grocery shopping, we found some low carb flat bread @ 15.8g of Carbs per tortilla $4.49, and we bought some poppadoms @ 4.3g of Carbs per poppadom to try as chips with some dip and finally home at which point my back has gone again and i'm hopped up on Voltaren and Panadol.

Now, in yesterday`s post I mentioned Twitterfeed I`m using it to feed my blog updates through to Twitter, so those of you with a blog that want to let everyone know through Twitter when you`ve updated, head over and set up an account, it can poll your RSS feed every 30 mins to check for updates.

Slight Change to Adele`s Post

My Birthday Meal should be :
A deep pan pepperoni pizza, with a beef patty on top, a layer of eggs, another deep pan pepperoni pizza upside down on top of that, the whole thing wrapped in bacon, battered, deep fried and then served with a hollandaise sauce. I think that should be enough :)

Now on another note found this :

The center of the circle is conflagration, where most people would die within 24 hours. The purple circle means 3rd degree burns, requiring medical care. The pink circle means 2nd degree burns, like burns from boiling water. And the yellow outermost circle means 1st degree burns, like a sunburn.

It`s basically Google Maps, so you can find your town and find out the affects of having a nuclear bomb dropped on it. It`s a bit morbid but interesting.

Anyway, was up late last night, couldn`t sleep till 3am, slept through to 2:30 then woke up with a headache, i`m gonna regret this on Saturday when I have to get up around 12 and go build a computer.

Just curious as we got Jason and Katherine`s wedding invite on Friday. So 3 questions :

1. Nope, can`t afford it, definitely not this close to Clare and Shane`s anyway.
2. Definitely.
3. Most likely yes we could slot this in, save like mad and make it there, would enjoy it too, add another stamp to our passports, well I will, Adele needs a new one in her married name, hahahah.

And we`re very jealous of Mary and Al going to New Zealand at the end of the year, we want to do something similar next year. Remember Al, Bunjee Jumping is free in NZ if you do it naked.

Office is Clean

No before photo`s cause it was a health hazard before hand, but now as you can see the office is now tidy, I still need some more storage tubs from Big W but apart from that it`s done and looks wonderful, Adele may even be able to come in here :
Now need to get some good setup going here, we`re trying to look at wireless colour laser MFD(multi-function devices) so we can have it setup downstairs and fax, copy, print & scan all wirelessly, then i`m going to have 2 desks in here seperated by a bookcase sitting on a filing cabinet, trust me it sounds odd but will be cool, they have it setup nearly right at the Ikea at Homebush but I have changed their design a fair bit. I have drawing of it at work but I haven`t sent it home.

Alright until next time, tonight we`re either going to watch Yes Man or Role Models depending on which Adele is up for, I also have Punisher : War Zone but I don`t think Adele will be up for that. Anyway, cya all. Bye.

The Well Known Guest Star Theory

Just a random thought for the day :

Something i`ve noticed when watching pretty much any Drama....well I suppose any Tv show that requires a villain or fall guy is that the most well known guest star is generally the person who did it. Basically if the show you are watching has a character that is not normally a re-curring character that is played by an actor that you are sitting there thinking what do I know that person from, then you will find that most of the time the villain is the character played by that actor.

Reasoning behind this appears to be that the day to day villain is generally required to deliver lines and acting that is above the norm for your everyday "extra" or sub-par wannabe actor, so basically it requires an actor that has generally proven themselves in a speaking role previously, i`m not saying every villain is a well known actor{i.e a well know A-List Actor), it is just usually a case of that actor looking familiar from somewhere.

Anyway that`s my theory it seems to work, Adele and I have tested this on Criminal Minds, Bones, NCIS and a few other shows, it doesn`t always work as we have not seen every show on the planet, but generally if you look at imdb after a show is over and look at the credits for the main villain they will have had some part in a show that required some lines or acting to be delivered.

Now that I have a data plan and can access the net pretty much on the go, I`ve setup a Twitter account to try and see if I use it, so anyway for updates on what i`m doing should be able to be found at http://twitter.com/phroghollow i`ve added a link on the left in my contact`s, i`ve given gmail as well as hotmail, i`ve had my hotmail account pretty much since hotmail was around{i.e before Microsoft bought it} and I don`t really see myself ever giving it up but i`ve now got the Gmail account so people can email me whilst i`m on the go on my new Android phone, have you checked it out yet Al? That reminds me, you blogging yet Al? I`d be very interested in what you have to say on a Blog.

Well it`s nearly that time again and just so everyone has an idea of what to get me here are some idea`s for my birthday, here we go, now everyone seemed to be overwhelmed by choices of DVD`s to buy me for christmas so I have made a concise list of DVD`s :

Now news that I need to share is that my poor XBox 360 has succumbed to the infamous Red Ring Of Death during the recent heat wave, which means that I can`t play the new DLC(Down Loadable Content) for GTA4(Grand Theft Auto 4) at the moment, however the gift cards I got for Christmas is paying for the DLC when I get my Xbox back from repair, so shout out`s to those that gave Gift Cards :). Now time to go help Adele setup her new table in her scrapping room.

Of Course I would like a netbook for my birthday if everyone wanted to throw in?? but no that`s a bit much to ask at this stage, I don`t really need one as I have my new phone and already have a laptop. Or maybe Tivo, Adele has been hassling me for Tivo for ages, but again at $700 I think it`s a bit much, plus I download all our TV so it`s all good. So anyway, I`m out, Bye.

New Phone

Well I got my new phone, Adele got hers as well, basically they`re both in her name Woohoo, I`m on a $59 cap with a $20 data pack on top, so I get 1.5Gb of Downloads on my phone, which is lucky as it seems to be fairly data intensive, but i`m overjoyed :).

Our painting has been disappointing as when we removed the tape today, half the paint has come off with it, i`m thinking we`re going to have to sand it all back to wood so the paint bonds with the surface.

I`ve been searching around and found some more stuff, I feel this bottle of Sauce may last me at least a week :

Weekend Stuff

So Adele has changed her mind and instead of Half Hog`s Bristle on the door`s etc. we are going for a high gloss White Watsonia(any tips for getting rid of brush marks on high gloss paint are appreciated).

Side note : whilst out to buy our paint, even though we had managed to park almost right in front of the doors, Adele managed to lose the car, despite the fact I was standing behind it and waved at her and she also looked straight at me.

But anyway here is the painting so far :

A long process, it takes 3 coats to get us this far, we may do a fourth coat tomorrow we`re going to see how it looks tomorrow morning.

So tomorrow both Adele and I have the day off, we both are going to get new mobile phones, me to get the HTC Dream, it`s the first phone in Australia running the new Google Android Operating System :

I tried to convince her to get a Dream as well but she doesn`t think it`s worth the cost, now we`re also trying to bring our Home phone over to Optus as well as Telstra have well and truly p*ssed us off. They have given us nothing but grief since we joined them and we figure they have not listened to complaints from us and the only way to get them to listen is to drop them completely.

I am a little worried about how my bad credit history will affect my getting a new phone, but as it`s now 4 years and 11 months since I paid off my bad debts it should be ok, if not i`ll have to wait till the 9th of March which is the 5 year anniversary of my bad debts being paid off,(note to all pay your debts, debt collectors are whiny b*tches). I`ll be jumping onto MyCreditFile on the 9th of March whilst we`re on Stradbroke Island to get a copy of my credit report, hmm, maybe I will wait till we`re back in Canberrra, so Al depending on wether I am successful in getting a new phone tomorrow you may have a new phone shortly.

Been A While but that`s due to lack of Energy

I Hate Diets, I feel I exercise better than I diet.

I been on the WiiFit for 1/2 an hour a day minimum with at least 10 mins of jogging in that, and i`ve been doing all aerobic exercise, if that don`t work, as soon as we`re finished with the wedding i`m off to the Gym people, I believe I have learnt a bit about the foods i`m eating and can go on with healthier eating, but dammit I need carbs.

So I have a new phone I want, actually it was on my iwoot list last year, but was then only available in the US, it`s like a sign from god actually, It`s the HTC Dream available from Optus, 2 days after Adele`s contract expires, so that`s right people we`re in here, unfortunately i`m working on the 16th of Feb, so i`m gonna have to go on an extended lunch break to get it, I don`t care people, i`m doing it.

Now wanted to give out some cool link for an iwoot, after listening to the Christian Bale Rant from the set of Terminator Salvation(listen to it here ), I want one of these :

But for now this will do us more than enough speed wise anyway, space is easy to expand(esp with 2Tb drives now out) :), it`s so good having everything in one place. I do need a larger screen (32" LCD 1920x1080 resolution will do me).

So big question is who is going to Jason and Kathryn`s Wedding in the cook Islands? Unfortunately that is a little out of our price range at this stage. Maybe if we had like an 18month leadup to it we might be able to look at it but at this late notice, definitely not.

Days Off, I love them

So first day off, as usual, my body doesn`t know what day it is, so I was up most of last night and then slept all morning, I got kinda creative and burnt a whole heap of disc`s for people Adele will be sending them tomorrow.

Big thankyou to Nat for her artwork, which you can see on Adele`s blog. It was way cool, It even made me watch Kung Fu Panda again.

Tomorrow, I`m going to see if I can do some gardening, the side of the house looks like a jungle, but a jungle made out of thistle`s so its on with the gloves and see if I can pull them out, it all depends on what the weather is like tomorrow, if it`s too hot it`ll be put off till a more convenient time.

I`ve been carbo loading so I can stock up for our Celebrity Slim onslaught. Had an all carb lunch, Adele made me have veggies for tonight, I plan to have carbs for lunch tomorrow, and then we`re having a BBQ tomorrow night.

That`s about it, the little hairball was most upset when he couldn`t go out this afternoon, and we`ve been getting Large Hailstone Warnings on the TV, but it seems pretty quiet now.

So yesterday I installed a new browser on my phone which means I can blog on my phone, I also found if I "utilise" the next door neighbours wi-fi which is unsecured I can do this without interrupting my downloads, Alright its technically on the grey side of legal, I swear I will go teach them how to protect their wi-fi .

Adele is off with her mother at DFO, hope she buys me a present. I bought Wall-e the other day on Blu-Ray taking my Blu-Ray collection to 5 but until prices start falling on Blu-Ray discs I refuse to really buy them it's only a couple I want.

So a big shout out to all of you in shake land, from what we've discussed we'll most likely be joining you, I hereby vote a carbs fest at Clare's wedding, who's with me?

I`m Back

Well, I`ve been back for a while I guess, just didn`t want to admit it. :(

Our Trip to Ballina was awesome, we had fun and could do it again, but next time for much longer, and next time we`d like to be up there for a 20/20 game, Our Huge thanks out to Kim and Beth and the Resort DeMontwood, the place looks great and the pool area is stunning, there is a construction on the side that is coming along nicely too, Kim says its a shed to cover the pool filter, I say its a self contained Bar and Snooker Room, I`ll come help you finish it next time Kim, but only when its not so hot.

Still I have a trip to Sydney with the wife(staying overnight in 5 star luxury) to see Top Gear Live and then we`re off to Stradbroke Island for 10 Days, woohoo, and I miss out on the 2 night shifts before I go, so I might even be lucid for those 10 days yay. Now I`m also looking forward to hiring a scooter for those 10 days, so we need someone who lives near Stradbroke Island to go and get us Pricing(Hmm does Clare actually read this thing).

So everyone is losing weight for this wedding dealy, so I`ve made my blog Bacon Optional, for those of you who still want Bacon click here : Phrog Hollow With Bacon . Take`s a second to load, but those bacon lovers out there will appreciate it.
On a lighter note, I have found something to help those trying to loose weight :The Toilet Scale, now I`ve often stated I feel 2 kilo`s(or more sometimes) lighter after visiting the smallest room in the house, now I can definitely tell, i`m tracking down somewhere to actually buy this now, but alas it appears it is in design stage only at the moment.

Well, CES (Consumer Electronics Show) for the unitiated/unsophisticated, is over for another year. This year`s winner was in my opinion the Palm Pre :
Again no details on release dates to Australia but looks good, I was holding out for an Android phone, but this is pretty spectacular, watch the video`s around the net and it speaks for itself. I`m waiting till after Mobile World Congress is over as apparently HTC have some damn good stuff coming that runs Android, but we`ll see.
Now I know Mary is sitting there going that`s nothing special, so yes I did find something at CES I think she would apppreciate, no its not the Elvis Singalong pack :

Anyway what have I done in the last 4 days? Well I mowed the lawn, changed the washers in the Shower so now we don`t have to watch the water dripping and replaced the Gas bottle in the BBQ, I also watched a crap load of Malcolm in the Middle which I just finished, I`m onto How I Met Your Mother next.

I did get Bolt so I watched that, it Ridunculous, well you`ll all understand when I send copies out, when does school holidays end?? Cause Kirsty I found the Girls the most awesome movie to watch, after this the High School Musical Trilogy will pale into comparison :
That`s right kiddies, all the singing and dancing, but with added God, and none of the classy Disney production values that worry about things like wether most kids would rather stab themselves in the eye with a spoon(because it`ll hurt more - did everyone get the Robin Hood reference there) than watch this crap or not.

We did spend last night watching Twilight(Very Crappy version, Adele demanded I download it). Well After watching it and making stupid comments throughout I think Adele is nearly learning to ignore me. Now I wont pass judgement on this and what it missed in the whole established vampire genre just yet until I see it in perfect clarity and can then rip it to pieces objectively. We then watched the end of the Cricket, and spent an enjoyable half hour at the end trying to find Kim and Beth in the Crowd, alas we didn`t see them but we tried.

Well, i`m spent, time to watch some NCIS and Mentalist fresh from the USA, stuff you Australian TV, Fastracking means actually getting off your lazy butts and airing it quicker than I can download it.

Breakfast, shopping etc.

So the day started off with Adele waking me up early(like 9 o'clock) it was early to me cause my body had woken at 2:30 and refused to go back to sleep till like 6 so it was early.

Had breakfast at Central Cafe in Queanbeyan(HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) this thing beats the Whale breakfast at Shelley`s(well except for the view:Whale`s/Dolphin`s Vs Wogs, you judge). Came with like 4 sausages, 4 rashers of bacon, 2 eggs, a tomato cut in half and fried as well as chips. Now add to this score I also got Adele`s Tomato and her 2 eggs, and you have a massive protein breakfast, I`m still thinking about it now. We met Adele`s Parents for a christmas catchup as I will be asleep all christmas day.Yay....NOT. We then went to the Cheap DVD shop at Riverside, where I was good and didn`t buy anymore (I did find a couple more that I wanted, but I didn`t really want them), but Adele`s mother bought some :).

We then went to the computer fair, cause I`m trying to fix someone`s computer but this didn`t prove successful as they don`t have Power Supplies for Acer computer`s out there, over to e-bay I guess.

We then went shopping and finished our christmas present shopping, Well we still have to buy each other christmas presents as well, but we`re doing that tomorrow. Mary still waiting on your IWOOT post. But hehehe we did find something awesome for you anyway, just gotta find something else :).

Hopefully this blog banishes the Miaowing to the older posts section. It`s been fun having it up there but won`t miss it really.

So it`s time for days off, unfortunately i`m so tired, takes a long time for me to catch up to the rest of the world, then its time to go back to work, the 24/7 people all tell me it takes about 3 months to start going alright with it, so here`s hoping.

Well, another 4 days off starts, as usual, as I have been up all night I will be spending this one asleep. Just getting the new will smith movie. then i`ll be heading to bed, had to just about pry Adele away from my computer as she has been reading those Twilight books on here(We need a 2nd laptop).

Had a Strawberry Milkshake Poptart for breakfast, was yummy, apparently there is 2 retail places in Australia I know of now to get poptarts, 1 at Warringah mall in Sydney and 1 in a Mall in Newcastle, so next time we drive up the coast, we`ll do a run through Newcastle.

Very exciting news about Clare working as a solicitor next year, congrats Clare.

Very Excited, I`ve gone international. Somone in the UK has viewed my Blog, Yay.

K So when I got to work this morning at the ungodly hour of 7am, it was to find the boss had tasked the weekend staff with the job of decorating our area for christmas. Now us being the Bah Humbug types at work, we decided we would put decorations up as directed, but we would use our discretion and put them up in a fairly limited area, the limited area being around his desk. Yay, the wife has returned for a full 18 hours, before she`d had enough of me and headed north, j/k she`s off to Sydney with her mother to do wedding dress shopping with her sister.......at least that`s what i`ve been told, I haven`t investigated further.

Day Off Time again

So i`ve finished my 4 mad days, and slept most of today, that must mean its time for some time off, well i`m off to see Paul tomorrow, to see about some new seats for the Commodore as the one`s that are in there are kinda sorta screwed.
The wife is in Adelaide for the week, for all those who don`t read her Blog. So it`s Pizza/Hot Dog`s/Wedge`s & Beer for Dinner all week Yaaay, But on the other hand the wife isn`t here....Booooo :(.

I did pretty good for Adele`s Birthday before I ran over budget(teeheehee I love present shopping), as per usual I got her a Friend`s DVD(Think it`s time to nearly finish off with these as she want`s other series now and it`ll take forever to buy these DVD`s one Christmas/Birthday at a time), Then she had requested a Tacklebox/Toolbox for her Beadmaking, so insert running around time here, I searched : Bunnings, Target, K-mart, Big-W and finally Rod`s and Tackle in Queanbeyan(most disappointed that Tiny from the ad wasn`t there, I like`s celebrities even minor local one`s) and got her the largest one I could find that matched her description of what she wanted. Then I headed to Michael Hill Jeweller as per usual and hit up the excellent staff in there who have taken care of my Jewellery needs since we started dating really, they`ve seen us through the engagement and wedding and every Christmas and birthday since, they do a good job, as I like to get Adele some new gold every time. Then when I got home(having spent the budget) I discovered that Lips had been released on Xbox (it`s the singstar equivalant for 360) which we had been waiting for since we borrowed Singstar off a girl at work(We both love Karaoke but I really shouldn`t do it in public unless completely drunk) So I went and grabbed it the next day from K-mart (Got it for $20 off RRP yay me) then Adele`s mother took care of Birthday Dinner and Cake so it was fantastic, Good job MI-L(Mother In-Law).

Watched the new Bond over my shift weekend. Well what can I say, it`s starting to lose the Bondishness, what do I mean by that, it`s the one liner`s he used to pull, the gadget`s he used to use, I think since Q stopped being in it its just gone away from what it used to be, although I must say its more true to the books now than the movies, so I dont really know, as a movie to watch its pretty good and I don`t think anyone will be bored, but it really needs to bring back a few things in the next one, i`m again happy with Daniel Craig as Bond(Clive Owen would have been better) just want to see some flippant throwaway lines, gadgets and Bond bedding 5-6 women per movie(I know how sexist).

So plans for the next couple of days are to get some house work done early so I can concentrate on relaxing. Gonna try and get the lawn done as well, Bloody summer. Anyway, have a good one all. Bye.

Getting Eagle Eye and the new James Bond, will have to watch the new Bond on my own as Adele doesnt like James. She feels his antic`s are a little too far fetched, the only uncultured thing about my wife.

Anyway I got all of Adele`s birthday shopping done, even managed to get a bargain on it. Can`t wait for tomorrow so I can give her, her presents.

Had training for most of today, had to go back to work after the training was complete, had to do a test and get an 85% pass mark on it. Still it was an open book test so I think I got the pass mark.

Foot still hurting, have to go get some dinner. Cya. Bye.

Anyway, back to work tomorrow, gonna watch The Mentalist and Bones tonight. Adele is cooking me Pizza as we speak, I hurt my foot somehow today whilst shopping, it was a big day obviously.

Day off 3

Ok, so I am on my third day off, technically my first day off is spent sleeping so it doesn`t really count.

I just bummed around mos t of the day, went down to riverside plaza and had a wander round, cause I usually just hide in the house all day if Adele isn`t here to make me leave, could be me just not liking crowds of people, but I should try to get out of here more often. Anyway, went down had a browse around, bought 2 yeast donuts from Donut king for Dessert tonight(1 Pink and 1 Chocolate) cause I been hassling Adele for a pink yeast donut at about 11 o'clock at night for I dont know how long, and I got some Bakers Delight bread cause Adele like`s it. Then came back home.

Currently doing today`s downloads : NCIS, The Mentalist and Fringe. Already watched Chuck and Heroes yesterday. Hope to watch them tonight with the wifey poo`s.

So, finally worked out who the hell Edward Cullen is from Kirsty`s Blog....Yes think i`ll give twilight a miss, I`ve heard good things about Tru Blood if you`re after Vampire`s but its a little more adult in theme`s.

So anyway, Have to do Adele`s Birthday shopping tomorrow(It`s on Saturday for those who forgot), being payday and all. Also thought whilst I`m out i`ll get some ingredients and make some savoury muffins in the mini-muffin trays.

Well, it`s tiring, but I do like being up all night, unfortunately it will take a while to adjust.

Big ups to the wild weather in Brisbane for making my night shifts just that little bit more interesting, you guys have had a wild ride, and i`ve been with u almost every step of the way, hope its looking a little quieter now, even managed to keep the Call Centre going for all you poor buggar`s hit by the storms and needing a hand out. Clare have you thought of throwing a few tiles off the roof and filing a claim with Centrelink??

Anyway, back to normal life mode now, I did end up buying Macca`s for breakfast but did it on Sunday Morning when I felt Adele would have time to savour it.

I`ve done some washing and stuff this morning, about to watch a new UK show called survivors about people who survive a virus that wipes out most of the population(sounds like 28 days later, don`t know if there`s zombies yet).

Anyhoo, thoughts are with Kirsty for coming in 2nd or 3rd in SYTYCS comp. We thought you did good. I could have joined the Blog to vote if you`d wanted, I can scrapbook real good I think....well maybe if I can stop myself eating the clag for 5 mins.

Alright, time to put some washing out and watch Survivors. Also gonna think about what Muffins I can make this week, thinking savoury, something with Cheese and Pepperoni. Aight, Bye.

Well started the new roster today, 12 hour shift, seems ok, not too many problems....buggar forgot the iRAS check. Hmm, ah well someone else will do it.

Anyway. I like this 4 days on 4 days off thing, I could get to like it, although ask me again on Monday morning as I arrive home from my second overnight shift. Hmm, maybe I can grab macca`s on the way home....No that`s not a promise when you read this my darling ;).

Good News and Bad News

I`ll be flying up Boxing Day at night hopefully and staying for a few days, feel bad but its a great opportunity and i`m hoping to still see everyone there.

Well what a weekend.
Up at 5 o'clock on Saturday, raining....that`d be right. Ladder in the car, collapsible chairs in the car. Cardboard for signs in the car. Trolley yep, check all done, lets go.
Aunt`s place by 6am, its dark, Adele`s parents not there yet. Pause waiting for them to arrive.
2mins later they arrive, phew. Shed unlocked, trestle`s out. Start getting everything out from inside the house. Still drizzle at this stage so bit hesitant to put everything out. First customer at 6:15 NOT AN INDIAN!!!!!! OMG. Steady stream of customers till 7:30(Glad we specified starting at 7am), whilst we get all the stuff out from inside. Eventually I get a rest and a coffee from the lovely lady next door, who even supplies toast with Vegemite spread in the correct way(Piled on thick). Signs get made by me and then put out(Mary would be proud of me). Damn not enough cardboard, only enough for one out the front and one either end of the street(Mary would be disappointed, not enough signs to steer customers in from as far afield as liverpool and melbourne).
Adele`s Dad then decides that as the garage sale is progressing, now is a good time to have a look at the shed. Flash forward 3 hours, 2 spiders, and a near collapse of the shed. All in pieces, Adele has sold the fibreglass sheets(Mary I swear I may have inbred on this one, its like there`s Reid blood in there). all pieces on Trailer. Garage sale over, retrieve signs. all over by 1:00pm too tired to move, home by some miracle am able to move arms enough to steer car and change gear(clutch work is a bit rough though, I think that leg is asleep already), lunch, sleep, think there was some suggestion of dinner, but its a vague recollection at this stage, do remember wife rubbing Voltaren gel into Arms before sleep though.

Sunday.
No Where near as much hardwork today, but damn, first item lifted and my back can see where this is going and decides to revolt, Seized up, but i`m not taking it, so I soldier on and we carry all the bedroom suite out to the people who bought it`s trailer, decide to walk double bed base up to their house, its only 4 houses over and across the road, get there and my back is comparing this trek to one performed by World War 2 vet`s across the Kokoda track. Finally its over, thats out. Wardrobe from spare bedroom(i`m thinking this thing was assembled on the bare slab and the house built around it), Eventually we get it away from the walls and lined up to go out, am accosted by Dust Bunnies the size of largish wallabies. After Adele`s Mum`s friend comes and cleans them all with her vacuum cleaner we start trying to move it. Discover that dust bunnies still exist on the end of the cupboard i`m supposed to be lifting, valiantly fight the dust bunnies in a duel to the death, then lift the cupboard out. Park it on the front lawn with a FREE PLEASE TAKE ME sign in a vain attempt to get out of moving the damn thing again. Remove all Venetian blinds and mounts from windows, OMG the house is filled with light, its not a cave. Deliver Trestle tables back to Belconnen and pick up well Deserved macca`s for lunch(not game to say that I could have polished of everything we bought as an entree at that stage I was famished). Get back to discover the ploy has worked the lady across the road has spied the wardrobe and her loving removalist husband will be removing it post haste. Thats pretty much it for the weekend, the rest involves me sleeping, moaning every time I had to move and to be honest can`t remember much except the pain in my arms and shoulders.

So its been a while.
The biggest most exciting thing to happen since last Post is Mary`s visit, yep, she came down and stayed with us for 5 days, we had lots of fun just relaxing, sitting in Massage chairs, I think Adele saw who egged me on as a child now after she watched Mary and I in the chairs at Harvey`s for what I must say was a very relaxing hour or so. Anyway, thanks Mary we loved having you here, and would love to have you back anytime.

Second most exciting thing was getting my surround sound, love it love it love it. Don`t love the fact the receiver doesn`t fit in our entertainment unit so we`ll have to start looking round for a new one, not right now, but eventually. Buggar.

So thats about it, I am excited about the proposed new Google Android Phone maybe getting released in Australia by Kogan. Will be getting one of these to play with.

So IWOOT`s for this blog post. Hmm, well I need some Books, I been reading a series called the Dresden Files which is basically a grown up Harry Potter but without Ron/Hermione or the annoying characters, its great, anyway : ANY OF THE HARDCOVER Books from the Dresden Files, you can find them on the website Jim-Butcher.com he currently has a mini novella type book out through Amazon called Backup which I want as well, and also he has started releasing comics, now I dont have any of his books, so any and all would be good.

Anyway, the weekend, got a Whipper Snipper, was sick of borrowing Adele`s Dad`s cause I can never get the damn thing started, its easy for him, I just can`t do it, so I got an electric one, it is freaking awesome.
Did some spraying around the house for spiders etc. so hopefully that`ll protect us for a while.

Back to work today, the wife isnt feeling too well so i`ll go cook dinner shortly, maybe just one quick game of Bubbles.

Meet Barry

Barry is the newest addition to the Tyson Menagerie, he is actually rather tiny considering how big Steve used to be, be good fun watching him grow up, i`ll post more shots as he grows.

This is my top score on that game on Mary`s blog, was quite proud of myself, i`ll probably feel dumb when someone beats it with no problems but this is my best at the moment, i`m quite addicted to it.

Saturday Tales

Continuing the IWOOT Theme for Christmas Ideas :
I believe a single stock from a company would be a good idea(Unless of course the rich relatives i`ve never met, want to buy me a 1000 or more), Coke, Microsoft Anything will do I reckon(except Apple cause they suck{I`m looking at my sister-in-law here}).

I already have an acre of land on the moon, what I really need is an acre on Mars and Venus, thus I begin my intergalactic domination. I`m not too sure on the legality of this, but I like the idea anyway, its not as if i`ll ever really get to view it. although if I ever get round to it, I can actually show you a high res shot of my land on the moon, it`s black.

I would also like a star named after me, what better way to show how much of a star I am.

I also think that Laird and Lady Tyson has a nice ring to it, It`s a legal name classification(though fairly useless), it`s also a hereditary title, so any offspring would be the future Laird or Lady Tyson, I`d be classed as a Scottish land owner, then I can get my Kilt, Sporrin and Bag Pipes.

Since we moved out of Stirling, I haven`t actually been able to find my original Leatherman, so I`m at a bit of a loss, I used to use if for everything, now I`m kind of at a loss.

So, Saturday was fairly boring/relaxing, still looking for any excuse to take smoking up again, I have SMS`d the quit line and they said they are sending me a QUIT pack. So maybe some free patches?? they`re damned expensive, its pretty much the same as smoking, but obviously with a patch, you don`t get the satisfaction or enjoyment from having the cigarette.

Kitty has been playing with Nemesis Kitty from next door, I think a change of name to BFF Kitty, as they seem to be great mates. There is a dead bird in our yard, that we couldn`t agree on who killed it, Azrael seemed fairly satisfied with himself, so it may be our little boy has gotten his first kill.

Spent the rest of the day watching Bathurst qualifying, and I did find out an interesting fact, Jesus is a Holden fan, judging from the fact that the Jesus racing team drives a Commodore. Sorry still not enough to get me back to a church people.

As you can tell from the variety and quantity of the IWOOT things added today, I spent a fair amount of time in here in the computer room, whilst Adele and co. were being creative downstairs last night, so all was not in vain.

Alrighty then, time to cook a bbq, got beer for tomorrow, I started a trend of getting absolutely rip roaring drunk on Bathurst day last year, and intend to follow up this year :).

Theme continues, what better than a couple of Blue`s Brother`s Rubber Duckies for the bath :
Day 4 of no smoking, ready to kill someone, this could be a good thing or a bad thing, haven`t decided yet.

My lovely wife bought me Iron Man(Metal Man to you Kirsty, you philistine) in Blu-Ray as my first Blu-Ray movie, Yay, looks good in full 1080P. Love my Sony TV.

Peace of Mind have come through with $489 for the Omni TV, but we are still short $80 odd dollars, as they are saying this is for servicing the tv. Now it says nothing in our warranty booklet about "servicing" the tv, so basically they picked a bad week to get me on, as not smoking has really fired up my argument skills. Now once JB HiFi open at DFO, we will take a trip out to see what we can get as an opening special in the 32" range, i`d like to get a 32" with 1080P resolution as i`d like to keep the resolution but at this stage my price doesnt extend to the amount they want, so fingers crossed for a good opening special.

Anyway, Adele is entertaining a few hundred ladies tonight so I will be hiding here in the office for a while. Alright time to watch some Mythbusters. Bye.

Paint, Christmas, and Boring Tulips

Well, Christmas draws ever closer, so to continue the Iwoot theme :
I believe I would be a great Action Star, and to Celebrate this I would like my own personalised Action Figure Yes I would be awesome, and you can buy extra`s to give to friends and family, basically anyone else who could benefit from my Awesomeness.

Paint. We have finally decided on paint colours :
The Ecru Half Strength will be going on Doors(as a gloss) Walls(as a matte) and the Hog`s Bristle Full will be going on Door Frame`s, Skirting Boards etc. Big Up`s to Adele`s parents for finalising(and partly....well mostly financing) the paint choices.

We did the Tulip Gardens on Saturday, As you can all imagine this was not really the highlight of my weekend. For photo`s see Adele`s Blog she also went to Floriade, but we all know that you can have too many tulips, so I declined the honour of going to Floriade.

I have given up smoking, as of today, its day one, the first one to comment about this will be the cause of me taking it back up again, I don't want to hear congratulations, encouragement, nothing, no comments, no emails, no phone calls, no text messages, messenger pigeons, smoke signals. NOTHING. The first one to mention it will be forever branded as the iceberg who sank the Titanic, I will go and buy a pack at the first moment someone mentions it. CLEAR PEOPLE???

Christmas is Coming

Time to start getting the IWOOT(I Want One Of These, Different in Context to WOOT, which is a meme in itself) stuff out in the open as we`re now on the downhill slide to christmas. Yay!!!!! I have a clearance

I have now got my Protected Security Clearance, time to start looking for jobs, they did mention at work the other day we would be taking over Medicare IT, and part of that would be on-site support, Hmm, wonder if I could get Brisbane. Time to talk to the wife, I`m sure we could sell this house and move.

Not much happening other than that, we`re now into Criminal Minds, although not quite as good as Bones. Adele is down watching Brothers and Sisters at the moment, its great all the shows are coming back.

Nearly the weekend

Well, its nearly the weekend, so need to have a relax, but the lawns and outside need doing, so we`ll be into it.

Nearly finished Bones now, got 3 episodes to go, then we`ll start Criminal Minds, Maybe LOST before that, probably should catch up on that. Then we should watch some of the movies we have as well.

Not too much going on at the moment, had a BBQ at work today that I organised. Made $170 dollars profit, soo much work put into it though.

Thats about it really, time for eating I thinks. Can`t wait to see Kim and Beth back from Holidays and get some pictures etc(we`ve been over my aversion to facebook before).

The Weekend Draws to a close

Well another weekend finished.

I started the weekend by installing a Plasma TV for a lady at work, I work cheap, I do it for cheesecake :
Got 2 of the above cheesecakes, will be munching this one tonight :) Mmmmm Triple Choc Cheesecake.

I then put together our new entertainment unit and bookshelf :

Day Off

I had a day off today, I figured after not having a weekend, I kinda deserved it so I used some of my flex to treat myself.

I`ve spent the entire day rebuilding the laptop in the hope of connecting my external hard drive to it, I`m pleased to say this has been successful, so now I just need to set the laptop up again for the network which I`m sure will prove interesting.

Hmm, must fit a snooze in at some stage, I have to go pick my wife up around 10 from Belconnen as she is planning on having a few drinks with her friends. So I get to stay home and sober for a change?!?!?!

Haven`t quite gotten to assembling the bookshelves or entertainment unit, I figured I will wait till the wife is home to give me a hand. Kitty has loved having me home all day, he is such a sook sometimes, he comes in the cat door, and Miaows till I come give him a pat, this can be as short as a stroke and then he`s off again, other times he insists on being picked up.

Well as the laptop is nearly done, I should be able to get some photo`s up again, must find something to take a photo of.

Finished Testing

It`s over, done with, finished. Well not all of it, but my part is, for that matter I don`t really care actually. All I care about is that its finished.

I saw some nice stuff in the Target catalogue and thought we might have a look at it, but after talking to the guys at Target, they apparently have a heap of people after the limited stock that they have. So we actually went in this afternoon and purchased it.
TV Cabinet and Cube Bookshelves, both in the chocolate brown colour. Hopefully this will give us some room to put all the stuff near the TV into a neat area, and let us put our books out, well some of them anyway.

Season 2 of Criminal Minds is coming down now, season 1 has finished. So just gotta get into some Bones, we didn`t manage to watch any Bones last night, cause Adele had to watch NCIS. Can`t wait, NCIS is back in 2 weeks. Will be fun.

Anyway thats about it for today. I do have to go back to Tuggeranong tomorrow to pick up the Bookshelves and the cabinet, it`s kinda too large for a car, so we needed the Father-In-Law`s trailer. So another early morning awaits, YAAAY.

1 Day to go of Testing

1 day to go, then its back to the usual grind, I`ve chased up about my clearance and the guy in charge will call the Australian Vetting Service tomorrow to chase it up.

Looks like Criminal Minds has won, Season 1 is on its way down now. Sorry Mick, never got into the Soprano`s or Dexter, I actually do have them, just never really grabbed me, and I tend to hoard so I wont delete them. I do have some more movies to send you guys, when I get a chance to burn them.

Sorry to disappoint fella`s, no intention to move to Brisbane in the near future, we did kinda just buy a house here, so we would like to live in it for a little while at least.

I have Nexium again, and a 3 litre bottle of milk, I don`t think the milk is going to last long, good news is my bones have the tensile strength of steel :).

That`s about it, my main interest in updating the blog was to put the joke up, someone sent it to me yesterday and it made me laugh.

So Very, Very Tired

I`ve just realised that i`m out of Nexium, it`s gonna be a rough night.
I can feel the heart burn going already :(, i`ve stocked up on milk, had some panadol and i`m heading to bed early. I`ll hit the chemist first thing in the morning.

Into season 3 of Bones now, really cool series, hadn`t realised it was any good, but I do recommend it. Unfortunately getting close to the end of the available episodes, time to find something else to get. Any recommendations?? No I don`t want any suggestions of Desperate Housewives, Grey`s Anatomy or any other girly crap, I want good drama, not sappy soaps.

The testing is progressing, but I feel I achieved the sum total of nothing today, its the most dis-organised mess I have ever seen, still we must all soldier on and try and achieve a positive outcome or nothing will get changed. I should start looking around for new jobs now to see what I can find, hmm, maybe I should try some contracting? Well it`d be more money, but no holidays or sick leave or anything, although generally I don`t take much of either so probably not that big a deal, but I`d kinda like to stay in the public service.

Kim and Beth seem to be having a great time over in Europe, can`t wait to see some photo`s, wish they`d blog, cause I don`t facebook, yes there is a simple reason for that, Identity theft. There i`ve said my piece and revealed my paranoid side.

The Omni TV is now officially dead and Peace of Mind(David Jone`s Warranty company) has advised they will be cutting us a cheque for a refund to send out in the next week. So its shopping for a 32" LCD now, I found one for just under $900(Reckon you can do me a deal Kim??) so I gotta chuck in some cash on top of the cheque we`ll get for the Omni, but then I guess that`s one of the reasons I like over time :), I think I`ve decided that this one will go in the Bedroom on a nice wall mount, it should look quite nice and allow Adele to have the top of her Dresser back...well mostly, i`ll have the old Xbox 1 console setup as a media player, just gotta run some cable to the computer room, so I can network it into the PC so we can watch stuff in bed.

So it`s all going well this side. Big Shout out and happy birthday to my Nephew, Was way too tired when I got home and was too late by the time I woke up to call, so I`ll call him tomorrow.

No Rest for the Wicked

Well, the wife tells me i`m lovely not wicked, but I must be doing something wrong. Still its overtime, but I think i`d like to have a couple of weekends off. Oh well.

Gonna be a long couple of days doing this testing, we finally got all the testing doco out of the way, well its all written and ready to go, just gotta sort out the methods for performing the test, Oh I can`t wait for my security clearance to come through so I can start looking for other jobs, I just want to go to work and come home and forget about work, why do people insist on giving me more responsibility, maybe I should intentionally stuff up a few times?!?!?! Hmm I can power the whole data centre down for a week or so....no I dont want prison, just an incompentent reputation.

Watching some more Bones at the moment, Adele has watched episode 3 of 90215604832....whatever its called, I think she may have a new show for me to get for her every week. All of my favourite shows are starting to come back on in the US so I can finally start watching some, but I do need to catch up on Bones, its a good series, unfortunately I got Adele into it, so now I need to watch it with her, which don`t get me wrong I like watching stuff with her, its just trying to find time when we are both free to watch it.

Adele is out at the Boat House on the lake, testing venues with her parents and sister(& future brother in-law) I probably should be with them, but i`m wrecked, I would like some time to have a "Weekend" even if its not during the day, and I`ve been there a couple of times anyway, so I know what it`s like, standard fancy food that I don`t eat, so looks like another wedding that I stop at Macca`s on the way home :). Although Clare says she`s organising me a kids meal for her wedding, Big Ups to Clare :).

All Connected

Console`s are both connected now, I can view stuff off my PC. Yay!!! So we`re back to watching Bones. I`ve got Wall-E, Get Smart and Space Chimps to watch as well. Just gotta find some time to watch them. I`ll have to send them to my sister and her kids, they seem to appreciate them, unlike my parents who I sent them movies, and they never watched them, just allowed my brother to steal them and never bothered to get them back.

Offside comment, I know Kirsty will appreciate this, I got all 3 seasons of Father Ted :).

I`m doing testing for the next 6 days, yes I don`t get a weekend this fortnight, I do get overtime, so i`m sure that Adele is already planning on how to spend all that cash, whilst I catch up on sleep.

I dunno what else to talk about, been boring, I`m being hassled to fix the laptop, which is infected with a virus, I`ll get there eventually.

Day on the Frontlines

Been A While

I`m Back, Thanks for all calling. But I really am fine, needed to work my own stuff out, which is how I always do it, its no reflection on anyone, but I need to work it out myself.

So in the past couple of weeks, We`ve had Poptarts :

Now I haven`t seen these in Australia anywhere for a few years, and my soon to be brother in law who worked at Coles and now at Aldi assured me they weren`t available.
So where did we get them from? Sugarfix its a website for ordering, US or UK based junkfood basically. Now the Wifey with the good credit rating and a credit card then ordered them for us, please be aware that they have approximately the same value as gold, the 2 boxes we ordered cost about $40 to have delivered to us, but oh so nice.

I also was able to track down a bag of "The People`s Chip" which was launched by Hamish and Andy, for those of you who don`t know, the flavour is Gravy. Now personally it tasted like Cheese and Onion flavour chips to me, maybe I need another bag.

I think Adele agreed with me on the taste.

I also managed to get a PS3, I guess my previous comments finally worked and I now have myself a Blu-Ray player, Yes people I would like some Blu-Ray movies sent to me, just on the off chance someone is feeling generous?!?!?! Thanks Wifey :)

I bought myself a new Hard Drive yesterday, and in the process managed to kill my primary drive, which means I lost about 100Gb of stuff unfortunately, I did have a lot backed up, but there was some stuff which is irreplaceable, like most of our photo`s etc, but being lazy counts people, we still have most of our photo`s on our SD Card from the camera. Woohoo. So I`m back in Windows at the moment, and thanks to Microsoft`s incompetence, i`m blaming the fact that I`m using a pirated copy of Xp on them, if Vista worked so well, then why the hell doesn`t it pick up the hardware??? so if they come at me i`ll be more than happy to swap a legitimate license of Vista Ultimate for a copy of XP Pro.
